Sugar manufacturer EID Parry today reported a 15 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit.

Sugar manufacturer EID Parry today reported a 15 per cent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 182.97 crore for the quarter ended September 30.

The company,a part of the USD 4.4 billion Murugappa Group,had posted a net profit of Rs 216.24 crore in the year-ago period.

The consolidated net sales of the company fell marginally to Rs 3,253.73 crore in the second quarter this fiscal from Rs 3,303.13 crore in the same quarter of 2011-12 fiscal,it said in a filing to the BSE.

EID Parry8217;s total expenditure declined to Rs 2,954.02 crore in July-September of 2012-13 fiscal against Rs 3,036.55 crore in the same period last fiscal.

The company has nine sugar mills,including those with its subsidiaries Sadashiva Sugars and Parrys Sugar. It has a total sugarcane crushing capacity of 32,5000 tonnes a day,146 MW of power cogeneration and four distilleries with 230 kilolitres per day capacity.

Besides sugar,the company is also into biopesticides and nutraceuticals.

Shares of the company today fell by 1.80 per cent to settle at Rs 220.70 apiece from their previous close at the BSE.
