The store manager has lodged an FIR at the Civil Lines police station against the unidentified women
Three women allegedly walked away with gold earrings worth nearly Rs 14 lakh from a showroom of Kalyan Jewellers in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, in a theft that unfolded in just about 14 minutes. The entire incident was caught on the store’s CCTV cameras and has since been widely shared online.
According to a report by Free Press Journal, the incident took place on December 31 at the outlet located on Sardar Patel Marg in the Civil Lines area. The CCTV footage shows the women seated near a glass display counter where the earrings were kept.
While engaging the salesperson in conversation, one of the women is seen swiftly lifting a jewellery box and passing it to another accomplice, who discreetly concealed it inside her shawl. Moments later, the trio exited the showroom without raising suspicion.
As per Free Press Journal, the store manager has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Civil Lines police station against the unidentified women. The police are currently analysing the CCTV footage to trace and identify those involved.

After the video surfaced on social media, it drew a flood of reactions from users. One person commented, “These are incidents which leads stores to do customer profiling which are then criticized by people. Only way to prevent is to have armed guards check everyone while leaving.”
Another wrote, “Distracting the salesman and slipping the jewellery into a shawl feels straight out of a movie.”
A third user suggested tighter monitoring inside stores, saying, “I think along with a security guy they should hire someone who can watch customers on the CCTV and alert it as soon as possibl.”
Meanwhile, one comment struck a sarcastic note: “That’s also a skill let them earn.”
