WPL 2026, MI vs RCB Live Cricket Score: Mumbai Indians are facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a Women's Premier League game.
WPL 2026, MI vs RCB: After riding her luck and surviving three chances in the 19th over, Nadine de Klerk scored 20 runs off the final four balls against Mumbai Indians to guide Royal Challengers Bengaluru to victory by three wickets in the opening game of the Women’s Premier League 2026 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. De Klerk was the star of the night for RCB, scoring an unbeaten 63 off 44 balls after taking four wickets for 26 runs with the ball.
Mumbai Indians, asked to bat first after Smriti Mandhana won the toss, had set a target of 155 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the Mumbai innings, Sajeevan Sajana rode her luck after being dropped twice at the start to plunder 45 runs off 25 balls while Nicola Carey (40 runs) and Gunalan Kamalini (32) also pitched in with the bat. Mumbai slumped to 35/2 after losing the wickets of Amelie Kerr and Nat Sciver-Brunt early on and never quite recovered until Sajana and Carey took control.
The fourth edition of the WPL, set to be Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, will act as a warm-up tournament for the Women’s T20 world Cup, scheduled for June-July this year. The Mumbai Indians are heading into this WPL with one of the strongest side with skipper Kaur joined by Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, Shabnim Ismail and recent buys Amelia Kerr, Milly Illingworth and Amanjot Kaur.
RCB, meanwhile, was handed a big blow at the start of the season when it was revealed that allrounder Ellyse Perry has withdrawn from the tournament. Now, the pressure will be on skipper Mandhana once again to deliver on top of the order. She will, however have assistance from Georgia Voll, Grace Harris and Nadine de Klerk as well as Richa Ghosh who have all shown that they are adept with the willow. In the bowling department, they have Arundhati Reddy, Pooja Vastrakar, Lauren Bell as well as Linsey Smith, Radha Yadav and Shreyanka Patil.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Grace Harris speaks
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Grace Harris, who opened the innings for RCB and gave them a flying start, spoke to JioHotstar after the game.
"(On the finish) Outstanding. She has been working hard on that finishing role. Glad to see her do that tonight. She is a class player. She has seriously improved in the last 18 months. (Emotions in the dugout) I turned to Anya and said this is a good first game of the season. When she (de Klerk) hit that six over cover, i thought we are in with a shot here. Heart rate was calm all day and spiked towards the last five overs of this match. I don't think the shots we played throughout our innings were very intelligent. Maybe a little rethink of how we will go about thinks on a sliding surface. When I first came over to India, i thought I'd be playing something similar, so happy to see her (de Klerk) going on and doing this. A bit of a surprise that I have ended up at the top (of the order)."

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Harmanpreet Kaur speaks
Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians captain, speaks after the three-wicket defeat. She repeatedly says that one good ball in the final over would have been enough for them to win.
"We know she (Nadine de Klerk) has that much capacity to score whatever runs are needed in the last over. We just did not bowl one good ball. This happens. We gave her chances and sometimes, batters come with strong mindset. We missed those chances. We did everything to win this game but in the last over, if we could've bowled one good ball, we could have won the match."
Mumbai Indians play their second game tomorrow. talking about the quick turnaround to tomorrow's game, Harman says: "In WPL, we always get matches like that. If we stay in this game, it will not help us tomorrow. We need to think what better we can do in the next match."
Talking about the first innings, she says: "We did not get a good start in the powerplay. Hopefully in the next match, we can sit and discuss how to go about it. It (the pitch) was not easy to bat but it kept getting better and better."

18 runs needed in the final over and De Klerk is on the job. SIX, FOUR, SIX in the third, fourth and fifth balls of the final over after two dot balls. RCB needed two runs on the final ball! AND SHE HITS A BOUNDARY ON THE FINAL BALL!!!
In the middle off all that drama and tension, De Klerk gets to her 50 as well!

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: DROPPED, DROPPED, RUN OUT MISSED!!
WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE MIDDLE ON THE OPENING NIGHT OF THE WPL!!!
On the first ball of the 19th over from Shabnim Ismail, Nat Sciver-Brunt drops Nadine de Klerk at long off. De Klerk hits a boundary on the second ball.
On the fourth ball, de Klerk hits the ball at Kerr who is at deep mid wicket and drops it. Then, as the RCB batters run two, the fielder throws the ball at Kamalini who knocks off the bails, but wait! The ball is not in her gloves when she does so! So third reprieve in four balls for De Klerk!
And on the final ball, there is --- of course! --- another boundary.
RCB need 18 runs to win off the final over.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: GONE!!
Another wicket in the same over from Nicola Carey! A wicket of Arundhati Reddy on the first ball and a wicket of Shreyanka Patil on the final ball as the batter misses the line of the ball and the off stump is rattled. No one was quite sure if the ball had hit the stumps first or ricocheted off the keeper's pads and into the stumps. The replay confirms that it was a dismissal.

34 runs needs for RCB off three overs with just three wickets in hand!

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: GONE!!
The timeout has a devastating effect on Royal Challengers Bengaluru as Arundhati Reddy's luck finally runs out. She departs for 20 as the dangerous partnership ends. Amelie Kerr catches the ball at deep midwicket and stops inches away from the boundary ropes. What a catch! And it's Nicola Carey who gets her first wicket of the night.
RCB needed 38 runs needed off 24 balls with five wickets in hand heading into the timeout. But now they have one wicket less.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Reddy riding her luck
And after Sajana's streak of luck in the first innings, we have Arundhati Reddy living on the edge and surviving. After having her LBW overturned in the previous over, she is almost caught by a fielder as she tries to hit over the infield. But the ball is inches over the hand of the jumping fielder. And Nadine de Klerk, who was one of RCB's best bowlers on the night, is now doing a double shift with the bat, smashing the final two balls of the 14th over for boundaries.
13 runs in the 14th over. RCB are 105/5 after Arundhati and De Klerk stitch a potentially match-saving partnership.

Amelie Kerr, who had a horrible stay in the middle with the bat, starts off with a dream delivery to Radha Yadav, rattling the RCB batter's stumps on her first ball of the day. A regular googly that clips the bails.
Just a couple of overs back they were 40/0 with Grace Harris and Smriti Mandhana on a roll! But that's a long time ago! RCB are 63/4 right now.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: RCB ride their luck!
So after Mumbai's Sajana rode her luck to get two dropped catches before she exploded with a 25-ball 45 in the first innings, RCB gets two slices of luck as well.
First, on the 4th ball of the 6th over, Ishaque drops Richa Ghosh at mid on. And then, right on the next ball, Hemalatha hits the ball straight in front of Nicola Carey, where the ball bounces right in front of her as the replays show.
And just to rub salt in the wounds, RCB get a boundary on the final ball.
RCB end the powerplay overs with 57/2

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: GONE!
Another big wicket for Mumbai! After three dot balls from Nat Sciver Brunt, Grace Harris cuts loose on the fourth ball with a shot that is just wide off the long on fielder. But on the next ball, Harris tries to hit the ball over the bowler's head for a maximum but ends up giving a catch to Shabnim Ismail, who slips while taking the catch thanks to the dew, but manages to hang on. Harris departs after an entertaining flashbang of a cameo, that's scored at a strike rate of over 200.
Grace Harris c Ismail b Nat Sciver-Brunt 25 (12b 4x4 1x6) SR: 208.33
And Ismail is okay to bowl the next over, so a relief for Mumbai Indians there.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: GONE!
What a difference four balls can make! Shabnim Ismail manages to bowl four dot balls in a row, and despite the score reading 40/0 after 3.4 overs, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana tries to smash the ball to the boundary ropes. But she can only get the top edge and is caught. Did she need to play that shot, given the situation they were in?
Smriti Mandhana c Khemnar b Ismail 18 (13b 4x4 0x6) SR: 138.46
And Ismail ends the over with a single. So just one run and a wicket in that over! IS this the start of a turnaround for Mumbai Indians?

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Carey comes in
SMASHED! Harris brings up RCB's first six of the evening, as a ball that's pitched up is slapped back over the bowler Nicola Carey's head. Carey replaced Nat Sciver Brunt after just one over. But was that such a good idea? Carey leaks 15 runs in the first four balls, with Mandhana hitting two boundaries in a row after the first ball six from Harris. And just for good measure, Harris smashes another boundary on the final ball of the over.
Unlike Mumbai Indians, who were completely placid in the powerplay, RCB are thumping the ball around with freedom.
20 runs in that over.
Mumbai were 11/0 after three overs. Bengaluru are 40/0.

Shabnam Ismail handed the ball for the second over by Mumbai. And it takes two balls for Shabnam Ismail to take the pace off the ball to try and hoodwink Grace Harris. The Australian does get outfoxed by the pace on the second ball, but she comes back by bludgeoning the third ball past the mid-off fielder four a boundary.
Both Mandhana and Harris are trading boundaries here. the Australian hits one, then the Indian follows suit.

Amelie Kerr's miserable stay in the middle comes to an end. She's dismissed for 4 runs after 15 balls. She tried to hit her way out of bad form, and ended up top edging the ball to the hands of Reddy! Mumbai Indians lose their first wicket!
Amelia Kerr c Reddy b Bell 4 (15b 0x4 0x6) SR: 26.66
It looked like it would be another tight over from Lauren Bell. But then there's a wide, and then, on the fourth ball, she strays wide which Kamalini slaps to the boundary to ease the pressure. But just when it looked like it would be a good over, Kerr ended up throwing away her wicket.
Amelie Kerr struggling so far. Just 4 runs from 14 balls, most of them from Lauren Bell. Kamalini, at the other end, looks to be hitting the ball well. Just four runs in that fourth over. NO boundaries. RCB have a bowling-heavy side on the ground today, but it looks like they will persist with Bell for her four overs, the way she has managed to keep the Mumbai opening pair quiet.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Kamalini takes over

A good start from her compared to Amelia Kerr's struggles at the other end. Mumbai's first runs on the board come from a boundary. And Kamalini hits the final ball of the over for another boundary in the same region. A good over for Mumbai. 10 runs coming off it.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Here we go!
RCB hand the ball to England international Lauren Bell.
For Mumbai Indians, Amelia Kerr will face the first ball while Gunalan Kamalini is at the non-striker's end.
The first ball from Bell angles away nicely from the blade of the bat. And Kerr responds by trying to pummel the second ball in the gap on the legside. But she misses. The third ball hits the pads and there's a loud shout. But it was clearly missing the stumps. And right after the third ball that nipped in, we have the fourth ball that shapes away from the outside edge. As does the fifth one.
Kerr has swung and missed four balls in that first over. She does catch the final ball in the middle of the bat, but it finds the fielder.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Harmanpreet Kaur wishes to bat ‘more freely’
For ardent followers of Indian women’s cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur, the India batter, and Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians batter in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), can come across as chalk and cheese. While she tends to bat with some restraint in India colours, the 36-year-old tends to cut loose a bit more in the league, where is the second-highest run-getter with 851 runs in 27 matches at a strike rate of 143.5.
Ahead of the fourth season starting on Friday, the MI captain said she hoped to bat a lot more freely without having to take too much pressure on herself.
“I think, as a batter, I want to bat freely. Because this is the only platform where I don’t put a lot of pressure on myself. Because this is something where I can execute myself, however I want. It’s a very important tournament for me, and I just want to contribute to my team as much as I can,” Harmanpreet said at the pre-tournament press conference on Thursday.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Mithali Raj on Jemimah as captain
Former India cricketer Mithali Raj is very keen to see how Jemimah Rodrigues will handle her new role as Delhi Capitals captain. Jemi is usually the livewire of any team setup, constantly lifting the team atmosphere with her humour.
"It would be very interesting to see Jemimah Rodrigues as captain for Delhi Capitals. She has led Mumbai in the domestic circuit, but leading a franchise and having overseas players under you is a little different. That said, with all the experience she has gained playing for India over the years, it should come naturally to her," said Mithali, who is an expert for JioStar for WPL.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: For World Cup-winning Indian team, WPL is chance to find new talent
Just 68 days after India's famous World Cup triumph at DY Patil Stadium, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana will walk out to the middle once more at the same venue in Navi Mumbai. This time, they will not be India teammates and trusted leadership partners. This time they will be opposing captains as the Women's Premier League starts from Friday with a clash between Harmanpreet-led Mumbai Indians and Mandhana's Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The fourth edition of WPL promises to be more competitive than the previous versions, with teams having had the chance to reset at the mega auction. The league has already played a key role in elevating India’s top cricketers from competitors to winners but in the afterglow of becoming World Champions, the attention on Indian women’s cricket is bound to be higher than ever.
MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Veda Krishnamurthy on Mandhana's burden this WPL
Veda Krishnamurthy, who is an expert for JioHotstar for the WPL, detailed the increased expectations on captain Smriti Mandhana to provide stability in Ellyse Perry's absence:
"Smriti Mandhana’s focus on hitting aerial shots will have a big impact this eason. She has evolved as a cricketer, using her feet more and playing the leg side against spin, which is new. That is an added advantage. I feel Ellyse Perry's absence is a big question. Smriti will not just play a captain's role, but also take on the responsibility of carrying the team forward. The squad has firepower with Grace Harris, Richa Ghosh, and Georgia Voll. But the stability Perry gave RCB is something Smriti will need to provide. I am not saying she should curb her shots. She still strikes at 150. But she will need to play longer innings,” Krishnamurthy said.

"Ellyse Perry got that team together. You would see her running around the field, giving advice to the bowlers or Smriti when pressure built. She brought so much energy with her diving and catches. She created an aura in the squad. You cannot replace what she did. In every pressure situation, she was scoring for RCB. She scored more than 60% of the team's runs in three years, over 900 runs. She took them through wins and losses. One person cannot shoulder that. You can't ask Smriti to score all those runs. But the best that can be done is for Smriti to hold one end more. You also cannot replicate Perry's leadership. RCB will miss that. Smriti might miss having her watching over her shoulder on the field," Krishnamurthy said.

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Smriti Mandhana speaks
Ahead of the WPL 2026 season starting, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana, in a conversation with broadcasters JioHotstar, spoke about trying to bring her international batting form to the WPL: "I think the whole RCB squad is very balanced this season. We had a good mega auction. I always tell the team we have to focus on our work ethic. What happens on the field is not in our hands. But the way we have been batting for the last two years, I am sure we will continue that for RCB. I have also been batting well in the last two years and I want to bring that success from international cricket to the WPL. There is no better feeling than winning matches for your team, whichever team you play for. I am really looking forward to doing that."

MI vs RCB WPL LIVE: Harmanpreet Kaur speaks
Ahead of the WPL 2026 season starting, Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur, in a conversation with broadcasters JioHotstar, emphasized the importance of enjoying the game and helping teammates over succumbing to pressure:
"You feel pressure in any format, whether it is WPL, international cricket, or domestic matches. You set a high standard for yourself and expect a lot. But the most important thing is to enjoy yourself on the field. Other than taking pressure, I would love to enjoy my game. Winning the Women's ODI World Cup and the WPL as captain adds extra responsibility to win again. But my main focus as captain is to help the players feel settled and enjoy the game," Harmanpreet Kaur said.
