When it comes to obscenity in TV advertisements,Deodorant ads appear to be the main culprit.
Of the nine instances when regulatory body Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) looked into complaints related to the content of TV advertisements, six were of Deodorants,Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting C M Jatua said today in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
Directions have been issued to remove or modify three such advertisements.
On advertisements promoting Axe Effect,Set Wet Deodorant and Zatak, the ASCI has issued direction to the advertiser to modify or withdraw the ad,Jatua said in his reply.
In case of an advertisement related to Wild Stone Deo,the Advertising standards body allowed the ad but only if it is telecast outside family viewing hours.
The ASCI reply was awaited in the case of an Axe Shower Gel ad.
The Advertising Standards body, however, did not uphold the complaint against advertisement by Killer Deo.
