Ikkis box office collection day 1: Agastya Nanda’s film opens strong, but earns just 50% of Dhurandhar’s day 28 revenue
Ikkis box office collection report day 1: The Agastya Nanda-starrer has fared far better than director Sriram Raghavan's last two directorial ventures, Merry Christmas and Andhadhun, both of which opened below Rs 3 cr.

Ikkis box office collection day 1: Despite director Aditya Dhar’s Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar continuing to dominate the box office, registering double-digit collections for a record 28 days in a row, Sriram Raghavan’s highly anticipated biographical war drama Ikkis has opened strongly, earning Rs 7 crore in the domestic market. Although Ikkis’ performance is far better than many recent Hindi movies, it nonetheless managed to collect on its debut day only about 50 per cent of what Dhurandhar did on day 28. However, with positive reviews pouring in, the Sriram Raghavan directorial may well pick up pace in the coming days. This also marks the last on-screen appearance of late actor Dharmendra.
On Thursday, Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda in the lead role, registered an India nett collection of Rs 7 crore, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk. The movie’s worldwide gross stands at Rs 8.25 crore as of 9 am on Friday, January 2, marking a strong start to 2026, unlike 2025, when Bollywood had no major box-office contenders during the first three weeks of January. Though the Kangana Ranaut-led Emergency and Ajay Devgn-starrer Azaad had hit the screens during this period, they managed to earn just Rs 2.5 crore and Rs 1.5 crore, respectively. It was Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, released on January 24, 2025, that finally upped the heat, opening at Rs 12.25 crore domestically. However, even Sky Force eventually turned out to be a box-office disappointment, grossing just Rs 149 crore worldwide against a reported budget of Rs 160 crore.
Dhurandhar Day 28 Box Office Collection Worldwide Update: Ranveer Singh’s film earns over Rs 1100 cr, just Rs 79 cr shy of surpassing KGF 2
While Ikkis’ performance is impressive given the past year’s scenario, there’s no denying it couldn’t collect even 50 per cent of what Dhurandhar did on the same day, despite the latter being in the last leg of its fourth week in theatres. On the day, Ranveer Singh’s spy actioner recorded an India nett collection of Rs 15.75 crore. It now remains to be seen if Ikkis manages to capitalise on the positive responses. It may be mentioned here that the biographical war drama has fared far better than Sriram’s last two directorial ventures, the Katrina Kaif-Vijay Sethupathi starrer Merry Christmas (2024) and the Tabu-Ayushmann Khurrana-Radhika Apte starrer Andhadhun (2018), which minted Rs 2.45 crore and Rs 2.7 crore, respectively, on day one.

On Thursday, Ikkis recorded an overall occupancy of 31.94 per cent in the Hindi market. Ikkis has over 2,400 shows at the moment but this could increase as Dhurandhar could reduce its shows in the upcoming days. Both these films are backed by Jio Studios.
While the morning shows commenced with 12 percent occupancy, the rate improved as the day unfolded, touching 35 per cent during the afternoon shows and peaking at 47 percent in the evening. However, the figure dipped to 34 per cent during the night screenings. Based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and centred around the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India-Pakistan War, the movie also features Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia in key roles.
