The battle against the bulge has become as threatening as the war on terrorism today and India is not far behind when it comes to the intake of fatty foods. The nations favourite traditional Indian snacks, which include samosas, namkeens and sherbets, are commonly made and had in Indian households, making it tougher for us to escape the wrath of obesity. Keeping all these factors in mind, nutritionist Ishi Khosla has come to the rescue of several Indians with her book The Diet Doctor: The Scientifically Proven Weight to Lose Weight Penguin,Rs 250. The book was released on Wednesday evening at India Habitat Centre by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit.
The focus of Khoslas book is the Indian body type, where she has given extensive information on what and how much to eat to lose weight scientifically. Responding to the question on how the book is different from other diet books in the market,Khosla said,Knowledge itself is not good enough. It is empowering. The book tells you about what to eat and how much. It also includes my innovative recipes and leaves it to the reader who can create their own diets. The way you manage your money and time, you manage your food. The science behind it is complex but the message is simple.
Khosla set up The Celiac Society for Delhi,a first of its kind in India, which was designed to spread awareness about wheat allergy. She has also worked with Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre as well as food majors, advising them on nutrition.
