Raima Sen confesses her love for Bengali films, especially the ones that star her grandmother,Suchitra Sen.
The Bengali actress, who will next be seen onscreen in Tanuja Chandras supernatural thriller Raakh co-starring Vir Das and I,Me Aur Main, revealed her love for Bengali films. When I am alone at home,I watch a lot of Bengali classics. I usually rent films from a DVD library close to my home,or else I buy the DVD of the film I plan to watch. I have a collection of Satyajit Rays film including Pather Panchali,Aparajitho and Apu Sansar. Im a huge fan of Bengali award-winning director Ritwik Ghatak and I have a collection of his films too! quips the actress adding,I have always taken great interest in my grandmothers films. She was a very talented and beautiful actress of her time. My DVD collection also has her films.
A movie buff,Raima loves to watch films alone. It may sound strange, but whenever I watch films at home,I chose to do it without any company. Yes! If my friends want to watch the same film, then we usually head to a theatre. I love to watch films when I travel and always carry my laptop with me on the sets, gushes Raima.
Her favourite genres include drama, comedy and horror. I enjoy watching comedies. Im a keen observer and peoples lives always interest me. Thats why films that are centred around real-life situations and biographies are my favourites, but what actually makes me tick is horror films!
Aandhi
Its my favourite among all my grandmothers films. Its the story of Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen,who fall in love, get married and then separate because of differences. When they meet again after many years, they resume their relationship. But Suchitra Sen is a powerful and famous politician, and if the press finds out about her past and her husband,it could be detrimental to her political career.
Kramer vs Kramer
A drama about a couple filing for divorce and the custody battle that the father has to go through to keep his son. Kramer vs Kramer, which co-starred Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman, was pretty similar to Masoom.
Masoom
Whenever I watched the film,I have cried. Its a touching tale of a young boy who moves in to stay with his dads family.
Godfather
I loved all the three films in the series about an aging patriarch who transfers control to his reluctant son.
Raging Bull
It is the emotional journey of a boxer spanning from his rise to fame to his subsequent decline and death.
