With the UPA government under attack from opposition BJP for the Indo-Pak joint declaration last week in Egypt that purportedly de-linked terror from composite dialogue between the two countries, the Congress on Monday stayed away from getting drawn into any debate on this issue.

We have nothing to add after the Prime Ministers clarification. Where is the question of it needing endorsement when the Prime Minister has spoken twice? AICC spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters here. He was replying to a question whether the party endorsed the joint declaration.

Asked if the joint declaration was a retreat from the governments stated position on talks with Pakistan,as alleged by the Opposition,Singhvi said,If you need any further clarification,go to the Government of India. There is no occasion for such a question. We are not required to endorse it after the PMs statement. His statement leaves no scope for any doubt, there is no question of not supporting it or backing out.
