Chinese whispers

A prelude to the recent drama between Chinese warships and an Indian submarine in the Gulf of Aden took place when the Chinese naval chief visited New Delhi in November last year. The hosts extended an invite to the Chinese Navy to take part in a joint anti-piracy exercise in the Gulf of Aden. Little did they know that the Chinese would actually come and the two Navies would be involved in a hide-and-seek game in pirate-infested waters.
