The CBI on Friday filed the chargesheet in the case of murder of Balipur pradhan Nanhe Yadav against five accused, including former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyyas driver Sanjay Pratap Singh alias Guddu Singh, his brother Rajeev alias Raju and three others.
The CBI has booked the accused on charges of murder, conspiracy and Arms Act. The court has fixed June 7 for taking cognizance of the chargesheet.
The CBI exonerated two other accused, namely Kamta Pal and Guddus brother Ajit, finding no evidence of their involvement in the crime.
The chargesheet was filed in CBI court of special judicial magistrate Mirza Zeenat. Investigating officer Subhash Kundu submitted 62 documents and statements of 81 witnesses to substantiate the charges.
Of the five accused Guddu,Rajeev and Kamtas sons Ajay and Vijay are lodged in jail while their relative Rakesh Narayan Pal has not been arrested so far.
While Ajay and Vijay are accused of executing the murder of the former pradhan,Guddu and Rajeev face charges of conspiracy. Rakesh is booked under the Arms Act,as the agency had recovered the murder weapons from his house, sources said.
Nanhes murder on March 2 had sparked a chain of events which led to the murder of his brother Suresh and Kunda DSP Ziaul Haque later the same night. The CBI is investigating all three murder and this is the first chargesheet it has filed.
The CBI investigation found there was an old rivalry between the pradhan and Guddu, which led to murder.
The agency has also found that Nanhe and Guddu were supporters of Raja Bhaiyya.
During investigation, the agency came across the fact that there were two groups at Balipur village, led by Nanhe and Guddu. Kamta, who was political rival of Nanhe, belongs to Guddus group.
In 2005,Kamta had defeated Nanhe in the panchayat elections and become the pradhan. Later,in 2010 elections,Guddu asked Nanhe not to contest against Kamta and let him continue in the next term. But,Nanhe did not agree and defeated Kamta.
A matter engaged both the groups in a fresh dispute. It was related to 10 biswa land purchased by Guddus associate Raj Kumar Saroj at Balipur village in April-May 2012.
