A Border Security Force BSF constable gunned down two Assistant Sub-Inspectors at an outpost on the India-Bangladesh border in western Assam on Thursday before turning the gun on himself.
Official sources in the BSF Assam Frontier headquarters said the constable,who was posted as a cook at the Hatichar border outpost,got into an argument with the two seniors,Surender Kumar and Babul Lal,following which he picked up a rifle and shot them dead. The constable who committed suicide has been identified as Prabhakar Mishra.
The incident occurred at 10:30 am when most BSF personnel were out on patrol. The cause of the argument was not immediately known.
Hatichar,a riverine island on the Brahmaputra on the India-Bangladesh border,is about an hour away by speedboat from Dhubri,the sector headquarters of the BSF in western Assam.
