SEOUL: South Koreas military announced provocative new artillery drills on the front-line island shelled in a North Korean attack,then postponed them Monday. Similar manoeuvres by South Korean troops a week earlier triggered the Norths bombardment that decimated parts of Yeonpyeong Island. On Monday,President Lee Myung-bak gave his first address since the attack,taking responsibility for failing to protect citizens vowing tough consequences for future aggression.

Zardari barred from pardoning woman

LAHORE: A Pakistani court Monday barred President Asif Ali Zardari from pardoning a Christian woman sentenced to death for blasphemy. The Lahore High Court issued the stay order in response to a petition filed by one Shahid Iqbal,who said Asia Bibis case is sub-judice and Zardari cannot grant reprieve.

Racist charges hit Victoria police
