The Supreme Court recently pulled up a Station House Officer (SHO) in Indore for allegedly using stock witnesses in multiple cases and ordered his removal from duty.

A bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and R Mahadevan directed the competent authority to post the SHO in police lines without assigning any duty of investigating or supervising any investigation or posting in a police station till further orders of the court.

The court cautioned that if any attempt is made by the SHO to interfere in any matter in any police station, the commissioner of police, Indore, shall be personally responsible and answerable to the court.
