TUCSON: Hospital officials say a 86-year-old Arizona man is lucky to be alive after he accidentally impaled himself with pruning shears. University Medical Centre said Leroy Luetscher on July 30 dropped a pair of pruning shears on the ground. When he went to pick them up,he lost his balance and fell face-down on it. The handle penetrated his eye socket and went down into his neck. Half the shears were left in his head,while the other half was sticking out. Surgeons,later,rebuilt his orbital floor with metal mesh,saving his eye.

Zardari arrives in Chinas Xinjiang region

BEIJING: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday arrived in China on a three-day visit which would include a tour of the restive Xinjiang region and a meeting with the countrys emerging leaders like Vice-Premier Li Kequang. Zardari arrived in Urmuqi,the provincial capital of Xinjiang that witnessed attacks by the East Turkistan Islamic Movement ETIM militants last month,some whom China alleged were trained in terrorist camps in Pakistan.
