Tajikistan bans minors from entering mosques
DUSHANBE: Tajikistans authoritarian leader has approved a law barring minors from praying in mosques,state television reported Wednesday,as his secular government seeks to minimise the rising influence of Islam. President Emomali Rakhmon signed the bill Tuesday despite vocal resistance from rights activists and the opposition Islamic Revival Party.
Record 300 million cocaine haul in UK
LONDON: Officials said Wednesday they seized about 300 million worth of cocaine in a record-setting drug bust on a pleasure boat. The UK Border Agency and Serious Organized Crime Agency said 1.2 tonnes of cocaine were found hidden in a compartment on a boat in June.

BEIJING: In a move to control incidents of rabies,the city of Jiangmen in Guandong Province in China,has banned raising of pet dogs and ordered the owners to get rid of their canines by August 10.
Brazil baby,thought dead,cries before burial
SAO PAULO: Brazilian police say a newborn girl was saved from being buried alive when she started crying at a funeral home where she had been taken after doctors declared her dead. A police statement said the 14-year-old mother was seven months pregnant when she gave birth Tuesday at the Santa Casa de Misericordia hospital in the city of Araxa. The hospital reported that the baby died moments after being born.
