Lightning claims five in Assam

GUWAHATI: Five persons,including three of a family,were killed by lightning in Assams Goalpara district on Friday,officials said. Lightning struck Selabari village under Dhupdhara police station Friday afternoon,claiming the lives of a couple and their son along with two others. Their houses were also damaged,they said.

Man poisons wife,kids in UP

MIRZAPUR UP: A man allegedly poisoned to death his wife and two children before trying to commit suicide,in Jigana area here on Friday,the police said. The 40-year-old man,who was in a state of depression due to a property dispute,consumed pesticide and administered the same to his 35-year-old wife and two children,aged 11 and 9 years, SP K Satyanarain said. While the woman and the children died,the man was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be serious,he said.

Man held for killing 4 family members

PATIALA: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing four of his family members in Nabha town,the police said Friday. Amrit Bir Singh shot dead his parents,grandfather and sister at their house Thursday night as they were against his alliance with the girl he wanted to marry,they said.
