66 Indians evacuated from Abidjan

NEW DELHI: Sixty-six Indian nationals,including 12 children,were evacuated on Tuesday from Abidjan to Accra on a Boeing 737 aircraft chartered by the Ministry of External Affairs. They landed at the Kotoko International Airport in Accra at 2130 IST and were received by Indian High Commission officials and given necessary consular and other assistance.

Two die as shell explodes in Jammu

JAMMU: Two persons were killed and another was injured when a shell exploded in a scrapdealers shop in Jammu district on Tuesday. A powerful blast rocked the border belt of Jourian in Akhnoor tehsil of the district when the shell exploded in the shop,police said. The two who were killed have been identified as scrap-dealer Rampaul alias R S Jungi and Preetam Chand.

Wife,lover held for NCP mans murder

MUMBAI: Within a day of local NCP member and cable operator Vilas Khot being declared dead due to internal injuries,police on Tuesday arrested Khots wife Rupa 30 and her alleged lover Sunil Chavan 42 on charges of murder. The two have been remanded in police custody till April 20.

Actor held for using fake documents

Mumbai: Bhojpuri actor Raja Chaudhary was arrested on Monday night for allegedly obtaining a SIM card using forged documents which mentioned the address of his girlfriends neighbour as his,police said. Chaudhary was apprehended after a complaint from the neighbour,who had received two mobile bills in which the actors name was mentioned.

Sai Baba still critical,response slow

Puttaparthi: Sathya Sai Baba continues to be in a critical condition and his response to the treatment has been slow,doctors attending on him said on Tuesday. Sri Sathya Sai Baba continues to be stable as far as his vital parameters of health are concerned. He still continues to be on intermittent hemodialysis and is on assisted respiration, said a health bulletin.

Tiger dies in Kaziranga Park

Golaghat: A male tiger was found dead in Kaziranga National Park in Assam on Tuesday,park officials said. The tiger was found dead in Kachpara area of Kohora range of the park by forest guards on Tuesday morning,park director Surajit Dutta said. The cause of death appeared to natural and was due to old age,he added.

Pakistan to release 89 Indian prisoners

Islamabad: The Pakistan government on Tuesday said it would free 89 Indian prisoners,including fishermen,on April 15 as part of measures initiated by the two countries to speed up the release of their nationals held in each others jails.
