Apple prepares next-gen AI-powered Siri with chatbot features: Report

Apple is also developing an AI-powered wearable pin with multiple cameras, microphones, a speaker, and wireless charging.

Apple is preparing to give Siri its biggest makeover in years as it seeks to strengthen its position in the fast-moving race for artificial intelligence. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, the company plans to transform Siri into a full-fledged AI chatbot later this year, marking a major shift in how users interact with Apple devices.

The revamped assistant, internally known as ‘Campos’, is expected to be built deeply into Apple’s core operating systems across the iPhone, iPad and Mac. Instead of the current Siri interface that users are familiar with, Campos will replace it entirely, offering a more conversational and flexible way to ask questions, give commands and get help.

This is a big step for Apple as the company is struggling to keep up with some of the leading names in the world of technology and the rate at which they have developed AI. Apple rolled out the ‘Apple Intelligence’ features for the first time in 2024, although the user acceptance was lukewarm, as many users felt that the tools didn’t offer enough compared to the offerings of some of their competitors.

With Campos, Apple appears to be taking a more serious approach by focusing on a chatbot-style experience that supports both voice and text input.

Apple-Google agreement

Earlier this month, Apple also signed an agreement with Google to use its Gemini AI models to power parts of Siri. This partnership gives Google a notable win, as its technology will play a key role in Apple’s next-generation assistant, even as Google continues to develop its own smartphones and AI tools. Internally, Campos is expected to use a more advanced version of Google’s models, similar to Gemini 3, which Apple refers to as its Foundation Models version 11.

The chatbot features are not expected to arrive immediately but will roll out later in the year as part of Apple’s upcoming software updates. When launched, Campos is likely to become one of the main highlights of Apple’s next operating system releases, shaping how users search for information, manage tasks and interact with their devices.

Separately, Apple is also exploring new AI-powered hardware. Yet another report indicates that it could be a wearable pin using artificial intelligence to help users throughout the day; it contains several cameras, microphones, a speaker, and wireless charging capabilities-features necessary for capturing input, visual, and audio and producing an output in real-time. The product is still said to be in development, but if the ideas move forward, the Apple product could hit the market as early as 2027.
