ROURKELA: The Maoists have claimed that a security personnel,termed as missing by police after an encounter,was killed inside a forest in Orissas Sundargarh district bordering Jharkhand. Laxman Kissan 28 of the district voluntary force,was found missing after the gunbattle at Chirubeda on Saturday evening. Subsequently,Maoist leader Samar Jee,the area commander of the rebel outfit in Chhotanagpur,told a section of the media here that Kissans body was with them and would be handed over to his family with honour.

Youth rescued after building collapses

AHMEDABAD: A youth was rescued following collapse of a two-storied building in Begumpura area of Surat city on Sunday,police said. The incident occurred when an old house in Begumpura locality collapsed burying 20-year-old Nainesh Baruwala under the rubble. According to fire officials,Nainesh was rescued by the people and sent to hospital in an ambulance before their arrival. The house was very old,fire officials said,adding that two motorcycles parked near the house were also crushed.

Alwar ADC,PRO shunted out

ALWAR: The Additional District Collector ADC and the district Public Relation Officer PRO were shunted out after a book launched by the administration claimed that former Maharaja of Alwar Tej Singh was one of the conspirators in Mahatma Gandhis assassination. ADC O P Bunkar and district PRO Rajendra Meena are awaiting posting orders for allegedly implicating the former Maharaja in the conspiracy to kill Mahatma Gandhi in a book Naya Rajasthan released here,an official said on Sunday.
