Body of Cong MLAs missing PA found

DEHRADUN: Body of the missing personal assistant of a Congress MLA from Luxor,Haridwar,was found in Gangnahar area near here,the police said on Sunday. The body of Vijaypal,who was the PA of Kunwar Pranab Singh Champion,was found floating at Subhash Ghat of Gangnahar of Roorkee on Saturday. Vijaypal left his house at Landhora area on December 9 but did not return. The body has been sent for the postmortem.

Student expelled for ragging

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A student of Rashtriya Kisan Degree College at Shamli here was expelled from the college for ragging a girl. Disciplinary action was taken against Ankur Chouhan,a 2nd year B.Com student on Saturday,after a girl complained that he misbehaved with her in the presence of a teacher and other students,college principal Yashpal Singh said here. There had been previous instances of complaints against Chouhan,he said.

Rocket propellant grenades seized

SHILLONG: Five powerful rocket propellant grenades,suspected to have been passed by the ULFA to a militant group in Meghalaya,were seized on Sunday by security forces during a raid in East Garo Hills district. Acting on revelations from five arrested cadres of the Garo National Liberation Army,a combing operation was launched at Soinang in the Mendipathar area on Saturday. A hide-out of a slain GNLA leader Joking Momin was busted by the police and the five grenades were seized.

Jungle road to Sabarimala opened

KAMBAM TN: In order to facilitate pilgrims to reach Sabarimala through a short cut,Kerala Forest department has opened a jungle track passing through Kumuli Pullumedu. Officials said the track along Periyar Tiger Reserve and Pullumedu from Kumuli,opened on Saturday,would cut down the distance to Sabarimala by nearly 100 km compared to the normal route.

Kannada director B S Ranga dies at 93

BANGALORE: Noted Kannada film director B S Ranga died at a hospital in Chennai on Sunday. He was 93. The veteran died due to old age related problems,said family sources. A producer,director,and cinematographer,Ranga was born on November 11,1917 in Magadi village near here.

Missing pilgrim from Kerala found dead

SABARIMALA: A 65-year-old pilgrim,who was missing from here since December 4,was found dead near a forest area. The deceased Sivarama Panicker,a devotee,hailed from Kuttilangadi village in Malappuram district.
