Man held for raping minor in Thane

MUMBAI: A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and strangulating a minor girl in neighbouring Thane district on Sunday,police said. According to Thane Police Commissioner K P Raghuvanshi,the accused Dasharath Yadav had invited the victim to his home in Ram Nagar on June 22 and raped her. When the girl tried to raise an alarm,he strangled her with a rope and later tucked her body in a box and disposed it in the jungles of Yeoor,he said.

Headless body found from Poonch river

POONCH: The headless body of a woman was recovered on Sunday from a river in Poonch district of Jammu and

Kashmir. After locals informed the police about the body,a team rushed to Khanetar area and recovered the decapitated body on Sunday afternoon,officials said. The identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained,the police said,adding that the body was sent to a hospital for forensic examination.

Woman,daughter set afire for dowry

MOTIHARI: A pregnant woman and her minor daughter were allegedly burnt to death by her husband and in-laws for dowry in Ahirolia in Bihars East Champaran district,police said on Sunday. The woman has been identified as Sunita Devi 26 and her body has been sent for post-mortem,police said.They added that the family crime dumped the body of the woman in a sugarcane field before fleeing from the village.

Father battered to death by son

MAU UP: A man was battered to death by his son with a heavy object over a petty dispute in Kasara village of the district on Sunday,police said. Shivmuni Rai was killed by his son Panchanand 22,they said,adding that Panchanand was agitated after being assaulted by his father on Saturday evening.
