Eight tiger cubs born in Pench reserve
Bhopal: Two tigresses have given birth to eight cubs in Madhya Pradeshs Pench Tiger Reserve in a span of just two months. Last month,a tigress with five newly born cubs was sighted and this month our ground duty officials have spotted another feline with three cubs, Pench deputy field director O P Tiwari said on Sunday. He said both the tigresses have given birth to cubs under Karmajhiri range of the reserve. With the news of the new-born cubs,monitoring in and around Karmajhiri has increased,officials said.
Nikam to represent India at UN seminar
Mumbai: Criminal lawyer and special government counsel in the 26/11 attack case,Ujjwal Nikam,will represent India at a global convention on terrorism held at the UN headquarters in New York from December 1. Legal experts from as many as 25 countries,including Pakistan,will participate in the three-day meet,organised by the UN Security Council. Nikam left for New York on Saturday night. Nikam,in his address at the UN,will throw light on how to fight terrorism.
Leopard mauls woman in sanctuary
Bahraich: A Nepalese woman has been mauled by a leopard in Katarniyaghat wildlife sanctuary,a Forest official said here on Sunday. Tarawati 50,a native of Nepals Vardia district and works as a daily labourer here,was attacked by a stray leopard on Saturday in Chitlahawa village near the jungle,DFO R K Singh said,adding the leopard disappeared in the forest soon after. The woman has been admitted to a primary health centre where her condition was said to be stable,Singh said.
Man held for trying to molest airhostess
KOLKATA: One person was arrested on Sunday allegedly trying to molest an airhostess on board a Kolkata-bound flight from Bangkok. Surajit Deb 50 was arrested after he allegedly tried to molest an airhostess when she refused to serve him more drinks,police said. Deb,a businessman,was coming from Bangkok to Kolkata in a private airline,airport sources said. He quarreled with the cabin crew and was arrested as the plane landed in Kolkata.
FIR against Shekhar Suman,Sony TV
Mumbai: An FIR has been registered against Sony TV,actor Shekhar Suman,comedienne Bharti Singh and a scriptwriter,for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a community in a comedy show aired by the channel,the police said on Sunday. A representative from Raza Academy,a Muslim body,lodged the complaint alleging that a joke cracked in the show Comedy Circus was insulting towards the religion. Police would see that recorded version and take appropriate action against the person or organisation concerned,said Pydhonie police station senior inspector Pathan Samsher.
Man kills wife,commits suicide
Fatehpur UP: A man allegedly shot dead his wife and then committed suicide over a domestic dispute in Kishunpur area here on Sunday,the police said. Shailendra first killed his wife Shail Kumari with a licenced rifle of his father,they said,adding,he then killed himself,in Awadhootpur village. A suicide note was recovered from the spot,the police claimed. The couple who got married three years ago have a minor son.
