Army men booked for beating cops

Defence spokesman in Jammu S N Acharya said reports of the Army men attacking the police naka are incorrect.

The Jamp;K Police registered an FIR Sunday against nearly a dozen Army men,including two officers,who allegedly attacked cops at a checkpost at Nowshera in Rajouri district.

Major Utsav and his wife Captain Urvi were travelling in an Alto when they were stopped by police at Nowshera main chowk. The police alleged that when they pointed out that the couple were driving a private vehicle with tinted glass,the latter started arguing.

When the vehicle was seized,Major Gaurav allegedly blocked vehicular traffic and made a call. Soon,the police alleged,a dozen armed Army personnel arrived at the scene from a nearby ADS unit and tried to make way for the couple in the car. When the policemen resisted,they were allegedly beaten up.
