The Property Tax Assessment and Collection Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a massive seizure drive for property tax recovery.
In the first phase of this campaign, the PCMC administration said strict action will be taken against defaulters, and this drive will be implemented across the city starting from January 21, 2026.
At a review meeting held regarding this matter, Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor and Deputy Commissioner of the Tax Collection Department, Pankaj Patil, issued clear instructions to all Assistant Divisional Officers to take stern action without providing any concessions to defaulters. Assistant Divisional Officers from all 18 divisional offices in the city were present at the meeting, a press release stated.
Independent zone-wise teams have been formed for tax recovery, and seizure warrants will be issued to defaulters in the coming days. If the property owners fail to pay the tax even after the warrant is issued, physical seizure of the property will be carried out. Under this campaign, water connections of residential defaulters will be disconnected, while non-residential properties will face direct seizure. PCMC has appealed to citizens to pay their current financial year and pending taxes immediately to avoid such harsh actions.
The PCMC has accelerated its tax collection drive, assigning responsibility to all group leaders across the 18 divisional offices. So far, 35 properties have been seized and 133 water connections have been disconnected across the city.
List of defaulters to be made public
The Municipal Corporation will soon publish a list of all property owners who have not yet paid their taxes. The Tax Collection Department clarified that no complaints or grievances will be entertained once the list is published. Therefore, defaulters are urged to clear their dues immediately to avoid public listing and seizure actions.
“Property tax is a vital source of revenue for the development of Pimpri Chinchwad. It enables the city to maintain infrastructure, civic services, sanitation, water supply, and education systems. Legal action will be taken against those who ignore repeated notices and reminders to pay their property tax,” said, Trupti Sandbhor, Additional Commissioner, PCMC
“This campaign is being implemented by focusing on three aspects: accurate information on defaulters, area-wise planning, and scheduled enforcement. Daily progress is being monitored by each divisional office. Defaulters can avoid disconnection of water lines and seizure by paying their taxes immediately. We urge citizens to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by paying their taxes voluntarily,” said Pankaj Patil, Deputy Commissioner, PCMC.
