Another acid attack victim dies in Tamil Nadu

Another young life has been lost to acid attack in Chennai. Vidya,20,who had acid thrown on her by her fiance,died at a hospital here on Sunday,even before the city had forgotten a similar death two weeks ago.

Vidya had suffered serious vitriolage injuries to her internal organs,and was critical for the past few days due to multiple complications.

Her attacker is in judicial custody. Vijaya Baskar,31,a caterer with a software firm,wanted to marry Vidya. Her mother Saraswati approved of the alliance. His family insisted the marriage would happen after Baskars sister was married off. Saraswati asked him to avoid meeting Vidya till the marriage was fixed. This angered Baskar.

On January 30,he went to the Internet browsing firm where she was working and threw acid on her.
