3 Idiots team launch DVD,VCD

The cast of 3 Idiots recently launched the standard edition of DVD and VCD of their hit film,3 Idiots.

Aamir Khan,R. Madhavan,Sharman Joshi and director Rajkumar Hirani recently launched the standard edition DVD and VCD of their hit film 3 Idiots at a function organised by Reliance Big Home Video at Grand Hyatt,Mumbai.

They were joined by Sweta Agnihotri,Chief Operating Officer,Reliance BIG Home Video.

Hirani spoke about his experiences while shooting 3 Idiots and how the film holds a special place in his heart. He also stressed how the 3 Idiots premium pack,which was launched on July 21,is an absolute must-have for all film buffs. He highlighted the premium features of the DVD pack,which included the sticker book and Idioticomic.

A segment from the special features DVD aptly titled 100 Idiots was screened at the event. Madhavan,Sharman and lyricist Swanand Kirkire also shared their experiences while working on the award-winning film.

Nitin Desai honoured by American guild

Noted Indian art director and production designer,Nitin Chandrakant Desai was felicitated by two prominent American film bodies 8211; The Art Directors Guild ADG Film Society and American Cinematheque 8211; at a ceremony on August 29 at the Egyptian Theatre. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Devdas was also screened at the event.

Sponsored by Variety,Devdas,starring Shah Rukh Khan,Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai,is the fourth of this years screening series highlighting the work of renowned production designers.

A panel discussion moderated by production designer John Muto followed. Devdas,based on Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyas novel of the same name,was the most expensive Hindi film ever produced at the time of its release,and remains one of the most opulent Indian movies ever.

Most recently,Desai has been praised for his work on the multiple Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire 2008. He designed the set of Kaun Banega Crorepati in the film as well as the set that reflects the interiors of the Taj Mahal.

With over 22 years in the film industry,Desai has worked in more than 85 films including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam,Jodhaa Akbar and Lagaan. In 1999,he won a Genie Award for Best Achievement in Art Direction/Production Design for Canadian film Such A Long Journey 1998.

Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone teamed up with Desai to source locations for his film Alexander 2004. Stones plans for his epic film called for state-of the-art sound stage facilities that did not then exist in India then.

Desai also conceptualised a production studio in India 8211; N D Studios that matches international standards.
