Two alleged members of the Hashim Baba gang, wanted in a case of murder of two brothers in Northeast Delhi’s Jafrabad last month, were arrested on Thursday after a brief exchange of fire at Ghazipur Paper Market, police said.
Police identified the accused as Asad Amin (22), who allegedly shot dead the brothers; and Mohammad Danish (34), the “main conspirator” who is a Jafrabad resident and holds a law degree. “Amin is a key member of the Hashim Baba gang and was also involved in a firing incident at GTB Hospital in 2024. Danish was working with the same gang as an arms supplier,” an officer said.
On December 16, 2025, Nadeem and Fazeel were shot dead by three motorcycle-borne men who allegedly pumped around 50 bullets into them. Police said the murders were meticulously planned and the assailants lay in wait for nearly half-an-hour before opening fire. Both victims died on the spot.
During the probe, it was found that the brothers were allegedly part of an arms supply syndicate, run by Salim Ahmad alias Salim Pistol, a top arms supplier, police said.

“Nadeem (was questioned and he) disclosed the Danish’s name… Since then, Danish had been absconding… He allegedly planned a revenge against Nadeem for revealing his name,” Singh said. On Thursday, following a tip-off, police laid a trap at Ghazipur Paper Market. “When the police attempted to arrest them, they opened fire…. Officers retaliated, injuring both men,” an officer said.
