Two men died and a third was seriously injured when an unexploded shell went off when they were collecting scrap from an Army firing range about 10 km from Ahmednagar town on Sunday evening,the police said.
The police said that two of the dead were labourers from Rajasthan.
Ahmednagar SP Krishna Prakash told The Indian Express: The incident took place at K K Firing Range of Armoured Corps Centre amp; School that is used for testing shells. One of the shells may have remained unexploded and went off when one of the men was trying to break it.
He said,One Roshan Rajput died on the spot. Two others were were rushed to hospital,where one of them,Sonu Tarak,succumbed to his injuries.
The condition of the third labourer,Lalsingh,is critical. A case of accidental death will be registered, the SP added.
