COLOMBO, Dec 19: The Sri Lankan cricket team, flying back to India tonight to play three One-day internationals, does not expect the series to be a cakewalk despite the hosts8217; dismal performance in the on-going Champions Trophy at Sharjah.

8220;They India are a good side going through bad times and it is important for us not to take them lightly,8221; Sri Lankan team manager Duleep Mendis was quoted as saying in the local newspapers.

He said it was quite an achievement for his team to have come back unbeaten in the just concluded three-Test series against India but that was no reason for being complacent.

8220;There are certain grey areas like bowling where we have to improve,8221; Mendis said, adding he was confident of Sri Lanka finally emerging victorious in the series as it had the most powerful and experienced batting line-up in Test as well as One-day cricket.

All the top seven batsmen have scored centuries in both Tests and one-dayers, he said.

Mendis, however, expressed apprehension on the fitness level of Sri Lanka8217;s frontline paceman Chaminda Vaas whose bowling standard has declined recently. The recurrence of the back-injury had kept Vaas out of the Caribbean tour in June this year but he expected the bowler to be fit for the one-day matches. But the team was also in a way strengthened with the return of wicketkeeper-cum-batsman Romesh Kaluwitharna. 8220;His inclusion, however, is not going to change the opening line up,8221; he said.

The team will continue to open with Jayasuriya and Marvan Atapattu.
