MELBOURNE, OCT 1: Shane Warne ripped into the Pakistan team taking on Australia today saying some were overrated and others lazy.
Warne, who is expected to be fit to break against England in the looming Ashes series, said Ijaz Ahmed thinks he8217;s better than he is, Inzamam-ul Haq is lazy and Moin Khan is not the most popular player around.
Writing in The Melbourne Age, Warne rated each Pakistan player and while praising Wasim Akram, Salim Malik and Mushtaq Ahmed, was not as kind to others.
Of Ijaz, Warne said: 8220;He has made eight test centuries but I don8217;t think he is as good as he thinks he is.8221;
Warne also took to the big hitter Inzamam, saying: 8220;He has all the talent in the world, but is lazy. He is a very good first slipper, which is just as well as I don8217;t think he wants to field anywhere else because he8217;d have to run.8221;
Warne was scathing of wicket-keeper Moin Khan, writing: 8220;He plays spin pretty well but is far too cocky for his own good. He is always talking to the opposition and isnot the most popular around, either with us or with his own teammates8230; It8217;s best not to talk to him at all.8221;
But Warne was full of admiration for Akram and Mushtaq, saying of Akram: 8220;For, Australia, it won8217;t be so much a case of exploiting a weakness in Wasim8217;s game as a matter of minimising his effectiveness8230;. He8217;s a match-winner and the most dangerous man in the Pakistan squad.8221;
8220;Mushie Mushtaq has got all the deliveries, but he probably tends to try to bowl too many of them too often.8221;
8220;He had a very good wrong8217;un and in the past the ball has troubled some Australian batsmen8230;. He8217;s a fine bowler, a good competitor and a fun bloke,8221; Warne wrote.
Warne rates Salim Malik as Pakistan8217;s best player of spin 8220;when he puts his mind to it.8221;
