Atlas Copco is planning to offer the golden handshake to around 100 employees by April, while the others have already implemented their VRS under the restructuring programmes.

Atlas Copco sources pointed out that the company8217;s plant at Chakan is being shifted to Dapodi as it plans to stop the manufacturing process of screw cutting 8211; the main reason why the company is offering VRS to its employees. Approximately Rs 4 crore has been reserved for the purpose.

Meanwhile, labour unions are crying foul and the foreign directors are being blamed for the lack of job security in these companies.

Another company that has successfully implemented its VRS is Alfa Laval India Ltd ALIL. Alfa Laval India managing director Satish Tandon recently spoke of the important role VRS playedin the re-engineering process at Alfa Laval.
