
Unnatural deaths
While 3 women ended their lives by consuming poison in different incidents in the district, a contract labour drowned in the GSFC plant here on Wednesday. Police said that the labourer, Sandip Patel, 22, resident of Dashrath, drowned at GSFC plant while collecting water from a pond in the plant campus. The matter is being investigated. Police added that one Jagruti Patel, 24, resident of Shivshakti Nagar, Akota, Lalita Parmar, 18, resident of village Undhera and Sabera Bibi Mansuri, about 60, resident of Makarpura ended their lives by consuming poisonous substances in separate incidents on Wednesday. According to police, family disputes were said to be the reason behind the suicides. Cases have been registered in the respective police stations and are being investigated.
Escape bid
A hooligan attempted to run away from custody by setting off A powerful fire-cracker in Kwant on Tuesday evening. Informing that Subrati Fakir, an anti-social element of the area, had been detained for routine interrogation and was being taken to police station when he attempted to run away by throwing a fire cracker, police said that no one was hurt in the incident. Forensic officials have also initiated an inquiry to know the exact type of fire-cracker used, police said.
House-break
Unknown miscreants broke into a house of one Jayantilal Darji, resident of Shriram Park, Gorwa, and decamped with jewelry and other valuables worth about Rs 35,000. The police said that Darji and his family members were asleep on the terrace when the thieves broke into the house. A case has been registered in the policed station and is being investigated.

A scooter GRE-6786 was lifted from Binanagar mosque, J P Road police said on Wednesday. A case has been registered in the J P Road police station and is being and is being investigated.

Traffic police issued tickets to about 500 vehicles owners on Wednesday and recovered fines touching Rs 16,000, according to an official release.
