Two police inspectors transferred
Two police inspectors of the city police have been transferred outside the Vadodara police commissionerate, according to a statement issued by the state police headquarters here on Tuesday.Deputy Police Commissioner (Administration) Meera Ramnivas said that while PI J R Tiwari of the Panigate police station had been transferred as Circle Police Inspector at Kamrej in Surat district, Inspector H H Patel of Modus Operandi Bureau (MOB) was shifted to Anti-Terrorist Squad in Ahmedabad.

PI J G Chavda of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has been posted as PI of MOB, Ramnivas said.

VUDA plan
The Vadodara Urban Development Authority is planning to deepen 10 ponds in 104 villages under its jurisdiction, on experimental basis. According to VUDA chairman K K Shah, the idea is to provide adequate water in the wells within the ponds. If the ponds are deepened, extra water can flow into the wells, he stated.

Gastro death
Sixty-year-old Rajuki Rathwa of a village in Pavijetpur taluka died of gastro-enterities on Tuesday, according to District Development Officer Anju Sharma. The village panchayat has distributed chlorine tablets in the village and nearby areas.

Fund approved
The Securities and Exchange Board of India has approved the setting up of a settlement guarantee fund as proposed by the Vadodara Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, the Vadodara exchange has decided to start trading in demat shares.

Congress dharna
The city unit of the Congress will stage a dharna at the Mahatma Gandhi Nagargruh on August 10 to protest against the “VHP and the Bajrang Dal for wiping up communal frenzy.” City unit president Ashwin Shah said workers would also submit a memorandum to the district collector. He alleged that the BJP was trying to enforce its hidden agenda to propagate communalism.

Paintings display
US-based Inter-Culture Alliance of Art and Education (ICAAE) will put on display 20 canvass paintings and 15 drawings of Vadodara-based painter Musa Katchhi at a three-day exhibition of paintings being organised in Hotel Omming Showroom in Washington from August 7 to 9.
