
CHANDIGARH, April 19: The outgoing Adviser to the Chandigarh Administrator, Jagdish Sagar, was given a warm send -off by the UT Cricket Association in a function at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The association members highlighted the work done by Sagar, who also held the post of president of the association. He was presented with a momento and gift by the vice president and secretary of the association, Col. Ajeet Singh Judge and S S Bawa respectively.
Meanwhile, the new Deputy Commissioner, M Ramshekhar was inducted into the association fold as an executive vice president. UTCA also approved of the membership of Anoop Sondhi and Sharanjeet Singh.
Kabaddi trials
Trials to select the Chandigarh men8217;s team for participation in the first Circle Style National kabaddi meet, to be held at Ludhiana from May 2 to 5, will be held on April 21 in Government College fpr Education, Sector 20 at 5 p.m.
Marwaha shines
Rehmat Marwaha was declared the man of the match in the football match played between two sides of the St Stephen8217;s School, to mark the Tercentenary of the Birth of Khalsa on Saturday.
He was given a cash award of Rs 200.
Punjab b8217;ball
The 50th Junior Punjab State basketball championship boys and girls will be held at Pathankot from April 27 to 29. Players born on or after January 1 8217;81 are eligible to participate. Entries close with Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association at Ludhiana on April 25. According to R.S.Gill, president, PBA, the state teams for 50th Junior National basketball meet, to be held at Pondicherry in May 1999 will be selected during the state meet.
HP veterans shine
The Himachal Pradesh contingent won four gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the recently-concluded 21st National Veterans athletics meet held at New Delhi.
