CHANDIGARH, May 1: The Chandigarh Basketball Association will conduct the State sub-junior championship for boys and girls from May 4 to 7 at the DAV Senior Secondary School courts in Sector 8 here, according to CBA general secretary Ravinder Talwar. Players born on or after January 1, 1985 are eligible to take part in the state meet.

On the basis of the performance of the players, 30 probables, including 15 girls, would be selected for a one-week coaching camp in preparation for the 25th Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship to be held in Pondicherry from May 14 to 18.

Entries close with CBA secretary K S Bharti at Sector 7 Sports Complex or House No. 1355, Sector 28-B before May 3. Entry fee is Rs 100 per team.

Geetika re-elected

MRS Geetika Kahla was unanimously re-elected president of the Punjab State Yoga Association in the general body meeting held here today. Mrs Rajinder Kaur and Avtar Singh Saini were elected general secretary and treasurer-cum-office secretary.

After the elections, Geetika Kahla said that the association would organise yoga training camps for physical education teachers of Punjab Education Department. The association would take up the matter with Education Secretary, Punjab Government to seek necessary cooperation. Kalha further said that the association had also decided to activate the district units to work more effectively for the promotion of yoga.

The fifth Punjab State Yoga Championship would be held at Sangrur in September. An intensive coaching camp would be oraganised to prepare the state team for the 17th National Yoga Championship to be held in Bangalore in October.
