PATIALA, JUNE 27: Finance and Planning Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh has said that the newly launched party Sarb Hind Shiromani Akali Dal led by Gurcharan Singh Tohra has no programme or principles.
He was addressing a rural gathering near Devigarh after inaugurating the 18- km long Sekhupura-Adaltiwala drain. He said that Tohra8217;s party had no following in the state, because it had done nothing about the problems faced by the people. And they had begun misguiding people again.
On this occasion, a number of Tohra loyalists extended their support to the Shriomani Akali Dal led by Parkash Singh Badal including Yadvinder Singh.
Interestingly, about 20 panchayats of Devigarh and the Dakala Market Committee openly extended their support to SAD group led by Badal.
Speaking on this occasion, Capt Kanwaljit Singh also claimed that the state government led by Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party has done a lot especially for people in rural areas, where developmental works were completed in record time. He said the people had raised the demand for Sekhupura-Adaltiwala drain during his last visit on June 3, and he had immediately ordered completion of the project at the earliest and released the necessary amount. The drain has completed within 20 days. He said that the state government had already ordered payment of compensation to the people whose land has been acquired for constructing the drain. The minister said another drain had been completed with the people8217;s help near Shadipur Momian.
Others who also spoken this occasion include Ajaib Singh Mukhmailpur, MLA Ghanour, and Chhajju Ram Sofat.
Addressing a gathering at a function organised by Bishan Nagar Welfare Association, he alleged that Tohra had a secret understanding with the Congress with the sole aim to openly defeat the Shiromani Akali Dal headed by Parkash Singh Badal in the ensuing parliamentary elections.
He said that Tohra never claimed that his party Sarb Hind Shiromani Akali Dal would win the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, but said that Shiromani Akali Dal would not be able to win a single seat in these elections. He said that Tohra has never uttered a word against the Congress party president, Sonia Gandhi or criticised her on the issue of a foreigner being elected as the country8217;s prime minister. He said that Tohra had launched his new political party with the sole aim of defeating the Shiromani Akali Dal.
He said that discipline in the party was the need of the hour and their was no room for those creating indiscriminate, and partymen should maintain the party8217;s principles. Regarding the demands raised by the Bishan Nagar Welfare Association, he instructed the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, to take necessary action to solve their problems.
