CHANDIGARH, Feb 23: Jaswinder Kaur, a BA part I student capped in a brilliant performance to win four gold medals, thus earning her the best athlete award in the Governemt College for Girls, Sector 42 Annual Athletic Meet, held at the college premises here today.
Jaswinder got first positions in three track events – 100, 200 and 400 metres. Her fourth gold medal came in the long jump event.
Upneet of B Com part I, took home gold medals in shot put and discus throw events. RK Rao, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration gave away the prizes to winners.

Mahajan refutes
Surinder Mahajan, badminton coach, has clarified that he was not involved in the selection of the Combined Universities badminton team for which participated in the National meet held recently at New Delhi.
Ha said that the Association of Indian Universities had sent an invitation to Calicut University, winners of the Inter-Varsity meet, to send their players for trials. Failing to get any response from them, AIU then asked the runners-up, Panjab University shuttlers.
The members of the team were selected by the AIU, he further clarified, thus discounting his role.
AICF gets the nod
There is good news for the carrom aficionados as the All India Carrom Federation (AICF) has been recognised by the Indian Olympic Association. According to Mahesh Sekhri, Zonal secretary (North), AICF, the decision was recently taken in the IOA general body meeting held at New Delhi.
