NEW DELHI, Feb 19: Delhi won the 13th All India Postal kabaddi tournament beating Tamil Nadu 40-21 at the National Stadium. Maharashtra clinched the third place knocking out AP 29-28 in a tie.

Ashoka Hotel win
Fine knocks by Pankaj Saxena (58) and unbeaten 37 by Rakesh Mehndiratta and an equally fine spell by Sanjay Rawat (4 for 25) helped Ashoka Hotel triumph over Maurya Sheraton by eight wickets in the Coca-Cola inter-hotel tournament at Siri Fort sports complex.

Brief scores: Ashoka Hotel: 151 for 2 (Pankaj Saxena 58, Rakesh Mehndiratta 37 not out, Neelkanth Bhatt 21) bt Maurya Sheraton: 149 for 8 (BK Khanna 43 not out, Ravi 33, PS Bhist 23 not out, Sanjay Rawat 4 for 25).

Meharban Billiards
The Sardar Meharban Singh Dhupia memorial billiard and snooker championship will get underway at the Chelmsford Club from February 24. The entry for the prize money tournament, with the winners getting Rs. 12,000 and runners-up Rs 6,000 each, closes on February 22 at 5 p.m. and forms can be had from the billiard marker of the club. The highest break by an individual will also fet Rs 2,000 each.

Ramnandan excels
Fine display of 54 runs by Ramnandan helped Blind Persons Association triumph over JPM Sr Sec School by two wickets at St Stephen’s College ground. Ramnandan Singh and Mahesh Kumar (Blind Persons Association) were adjudged the men of the match while Sushil Gaur got the best bowler’s award.

Gujral elected
N S Gujral, General Manager, Punjab and Sind Bank, has been unanimously elected president of the Delhi Table Tennis Association in place of Madanjit Singh who has resigned.
