CHANDIGARH, Oct 7: Defending champions DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 scored a thrilling 54-43 win over Shivalik Public School-41, in their second league encounter in the Rao Jai Singh Memorial basketball tournament being held in the New Public School, Sector 18 here.

In a fast-paced match SPS-41 cagers gave DAV-8 team a run for their money in the first-half of the contest. Both the teams were tied at 23-23 at the lemon break.

After resumption, DAV-8 players got their act together and pulled their sleeves up to score on the fast break and counter-attacks. Harjot, who top scored for DAV-8 with 24 points was unstoppable and excelled under the opponent basket while Amrish, who contributed 20 points to the team8217;s total was good in both the offensive and defensive rebounds.

For SPS-41, Gurinder Pal sunk 26 points while Vikramjit got 10 points.

In another match, New Public School-18 beat Guru Nanak Public School-36, 38-28. Both the teams were neck and neck at the break 20-20.
