NEW DELHI, April 22: Three persons were arrested by police officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport yesterday on the charge of forging the Emigration Check Not Required (ECNR) stamps on passports.

“On April 12, we nabbed five persons going to Lebanon with fake ECNR stamps on their passports,” said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Airport), A S Toor“On interrogation, they said that they had been promised jobs in Lebanon by Harbhajan Singh in Amritsar. We arrested him and brought him to Delhi,” he said. He then gave the names of his accomplices — Joginder Singh and Rakesh — who were arrsted last night,” said Toor.

According to him, Harbhajan Singh had taken Rs 1 lakh each from these youths to get them jobs abroad. Joginder Singh, reportedly Harbhajan’s uncle, procured the stamp through a travel agent, Rakesh. “We are investigating to see whether an employee of the Passport Office is in any way involved in the case,” the DCP added.
