DEC 29: The Cricket Board today denied media reports that the Pepsi Trophy, which India won at Nagpur after beating Zimbabwe 1-0 in the two-Test series, was left in the Indian Airlines flight.

Describing the report as false, Board’s Executive Secretary Sharad Diwadkar told PTI here on Friday that the trophy was taken to the hotel where the players were staying by the team’s Physio Arjun Singh Rana after the Indian team returned from the drawn Nagpur Test.

“Soon after Rana contacted the Board office, as the team was leaving for Cuttack to play in the first one-dayer against Zimbabwe, I sent one of my staffers (Vikas Pandit) to fetch it and keep it here,”he said.

Displaying the Trophy at the Board office, Diwadkar said “this Trophy has been here all along.”

“The trophy which the Indians won after beating Zimbabwe 4-1 in the one-day series is in the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) office as the fifth and final one-dayer was play at Rajkot,” he added.

SCA secretary Niranjan Shah told PTI over phone from Rajkot on Friday that the one-day series trophy was in his office.
