
SGCCI warns of virus
The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has asked computer users not to open a file with a message saying, 8220;It takes guts to say Jesus8221;. The file reportedly contains a virus far more dangerous than the Melissa8217; virus. The chamber has said that the virus can erase data from a hard disk. The chamber has also volunteered to provide 8220;kill-CIH8221;, an anti-virus programme, to the public.
Yatra flagged off
District Collector Sangeeta Singh flagged off the Jivan Raksha Yatra on Saturday. The yatra, which will pass through 14 talukas of district, is aimed at providing medical service to villagers at their doorstep. Among others, District Development officer B N Joshi and district health officer Dr M S Itnal were present at the function.
Bal mandir
Primary education institutions interested in starting bal mandirs should collect application forms from the district education office and submit the filled-in forms before May 15 in duplicate.
Vehicles seized
Assistant Police Commissioner J J Desai said in a release that the traffic branch had seized 113 vehicles. He has asked vehicle owners to claim their vehicles within seven days, warning that otherwise they would be auctioned.
Directive
The Vyara sub-divisional magistrate has invited persons having evidence or information regarding the custodial death of an undertrial on February 6 to depose in the Vyara court on May 6. The directive has been issued following the death of Santosh Gopal Gamit, a murder accused, in the New Civil hospital while being lodged in the district jail in the city. A case AD No 23/99 has been registered in the Umra police station.
