Dagga sent to judicial custody
Kallu Dagga, the third person arrested in the Nita Satbhaya murder case, has been sent to judicial custody after his second consecutive remand sought by the DCB ended on Wednesday. The police, instead of asking for an extended remand, sent him to judicial custody. Chandrakant Kahar alias C K and Naresh Patel alias Naresh Naphtha, arrested earlier in the connection, have already been sent to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, sources said a fourth person 8212; one Suresh alias Pako alias Ramesh 8212; was picked up for questioning from Valsad in connection with the case.

By-election
Congress councillor in the SMC Bhupendra Councillor, has asked Municipal Commissioner S Jagadeesan to hold the by-election to ward No 31, which fell vacant following the murder of Nita Satbhaya. In a letter, he accused Jagadeesan of violating section 151 of the BPMC Act, which stated that election to any post falling vacant due to death of a candidate or resignation should be held within 90 days.

Students pass
Two candidates appearing for Master of Surgery ENT and Diploma in Community Medicine have passed. According to an official release, the only candidate registered and appearing for the MS ENT examination and the other candidate who appeared for diploma in community medicine have been declared successful by the South Gujarat University.

BJP rapped
City Congress Secretary Bhupendra Solanki has criticised the ruling BJP for adopting double standards over the Development Fund8217; being collected by civic chief. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Solanki said if the BJP councillors feel that the commissioner had violated the BPMC Act by collecting fund in the name of development, they should pass a resolution asking the state government to transfer him.
