Prant officer asked to seal mill8217;s property
District Magistrate R M Shah has asked the Choryasi Prant Officer to seal the property of M/s Salsara Dyeing and Printing Mills Pvt Ltd, located on block no 495 near Palsana Char rasta for polluting the environment. Shah said the action followed submission of a report by GGCLto him stating that the mill was spreading pollution in the area.

BoB function
Bank of Baroda South Zone has organised the Utkarsh Award Function on December 2. The function, to be presided over by Surat Municipal Commissioner S Jagadeesan, will be held at Rajshree Hall, Navsari Bazar at 6 pm.

Roads approved
The Standing Committee of the Surat Municipal Corporation approved 114 new roads in all six zones of the city, work on which will begin soon. A decision to this effect was taken at the committee meeting held on Tuesday. Besides, the corporation also plans to survey 110 roads in the various parts of the city. If these roads are cleared, lights and other facilities will be provided along them, standing committee chairman Ajay Choksi said.

ISO 14001
Unit-I of United Phosphorous Limited, Ankleshwar has been certified for Environment Management System ISO-14001 effective from September 2 by BVQI. This unit is first to have certification among pesticide industries of India, according to a statement.

Rally held
The Giants Group of Surat took out a rally on Tuesday to observe World AIDS Day. More than 100 people joined the rally, which was led by group president Vinod Dorabraruwala.

Fine recovered
The Weight and Measurement department recovered a fine of Rs 78000 from 434 shopkeepers.
