Govt officer charged with rape, says he was attackedFebruary 3: A major controversy seems to be brewing in Nagina after the Block Development Officer there was charged with rape and matters became complicated after the same officer later filed a case of rioting and assault against some persons. In the first case, a 30-year old woman labourer alleged that the BDO along with two other persons had raped her on Sunday at his residence. The police said that the woman was led to the BDO's residence by Prem Lal, a resident of Ferozepur Zhirka, on the pretext that her daily wages would be given to her at the BDO's office.However, the woman has alleged that when she reached the BDO's office, Prem took her to the BDO's residence, where the BDO, Munni Lal and his secretary allegedly raped her. The official claimed that the had gone to Bharatpur along with Ram Chand of Karhari village and returned at 9 p.m. The woman who charged him with rape maintained in her complaint that she was taken to the BDO's houseat 6 a.m., but the BDO has stated that he had left for Bharatpur at around the same time. The BDO, meanwhile, lodged a complaint alleging that on the night of January 1 some persons entered his house and attacked him. He further alleged that they also took a sum of Rs 7,500 from the premises after which they ransacked the residence.The police have registered a case of rape against the BDO and two others besides a case of rioting and beating a public servant against Khurshid Ahmed of Imamnagar, Mohd Iqbal of Mandi Khera, Pappu, Zakir and 20 other persons.Body foundThe police registered a case of murder after they found a decomposed body in a shop at Khandsa road. The police identified the deceased as Rana Ranjit Pratap Singh, a shop-keeper. The victim was hit on the head which apparently caused his death. The police added that the body was recovered from his closed shop after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the premises.Villager killedThe police registered acase of murder after Nasir Hussain of Khuntaka village reportedly killed Ayub Hanif of the same village. The police said that Nasir crushed Ayub under a tractor trolley while he was sitting on a cot in the open. The cause of the incident was said to be enmity between two families.
