VADODARA, Aug 4: Three days after the declaration of the SSC supplementary examination results, the 1,700 students of Vadodara city who have cleared the examinations are still to secure admissions in schools. The admission procedure for these students is expected to begin from Friday.

The admissions have been divided in four zones, and the procedure will continue for two days. Students interested in schools in Sayajigunj should go to Vidyut Board Vidyalay, Old Padra Road between 11 am and 4pm. Students interested in Fatehgunj schools should report to Navyug Vidyalay, Fatehgunj, in the same time slot. Students from Mandvi and Karelibaug should report to Sayaji High School, Gadhiyali Pol, and Makarpura and Raopura students should report to Mahatma Gandhi High School, Manjalpur.

District Education Officer V Nanavati was in Gandhinagar on Wednesday to urge the education department to look into the need for more classes or increased facilities in the city8217;s existing schools.

With several city-based school principals having already said that their schools cannot accommodate more students, DEO officials opined that for all students to be accommodated, at least ten more classes were required.

Department officials said, 8220;The DEO has gone to seek permission for more classes, especially in those schools where there are already facilities for higher secondary sections.8221;

The officials added that students can choose among the schools where seats are available. 8220;The problem is that the schools the students can opt for are non-granted schools, where fees are higher,8221; he said.

A local survey conducted after the SSC examinations in April had mentioned the number of extra classes that would be required, they added.
