NAGPUR, AUG 28: All 11 rebel candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including sitting legislator Bhola Badhel who have filed nominations against the party’s official candidates in the Assembly polls, have been expelled from the party for six years.

The decision was taken by State BJP President Suryakant Wahadane today, informed BJP spokesman Anil Sole. The expelled leaders are: Bhola Badhel (North Nagpur), Ramdas Sahare (Bhandara), Shishupal Patle (Tumsar), Manohar Zinzade (Tiroda), Lalu Mankar (Aamgaon), Vijay Rane (Goregaon), Katekhaye (Paoni), Vilas Kodape (Gadchiroli), Dayaram Kale (Dharni), Arvind Kolte (Malkapur) and Purshottam Rajguru (Washim).

Meanwhile, hundreds of Janata Dal-Secular workers from the district led by Dr Rajabhau Taksale joined the BJP today. The Dalit Panther of India group led by Namdeo Dhasal also announced its support to the alliance candidates in the district.

Shiv Sena candidate from East Nagpur, Praveen Barde and the BJP candidate for Nagpur-Kamptee Lok Sabhaconstituency, Vinod Gudadhe Patil took out a scooter rally covering several localities of east Nagpur today. The two leaders were joined by city BJP chief Girish Vyas and several corporators.Meanwhile, social worker Anna Hazare will be addressing a public meeting on Sunday, August 29 here as part of his `Matadar Jagruti Yatra’.

With the `yatra’ Hazare aims to generate awareness among voters and prevent them from falling prey to tactics of political parties.

Hazare wants voters to ask a few questions of their candidates like whether they had declared their assets? Would they stick to caste and religious affiliations? Another thing he asked them to confirm was whether the candidates would seek donations for campaigning from anti-socials? If s/he wins, would s/he fight for the right to information in Lok Sabha and legislature, and the like.
