
For Rubber Ripperz, biking is all about accelerating to new dimensions with pace and technology
An assemblage of bikes zoom past on the roads, arresting attention in the most spectacular way. For the onlookers it is the profligacy that many of the bike groups flaunt, but for the keen observers it8217;s an interesting revelation. What bonds these 29 group of youngsters together is their chase for speed and the fondness for the same bike exploring their passion through rides, pace and stunts. The city biker group, Rubber Ripperz rides no other than Bajaj Pulsar 200cc or 220cc. Formed through the social networking site, orkut a year ago the group have been speeding to popularity.
Nitin Bansal one of the initial members who has been into biking since last five years, says, 8220;The group turned out gradually but we do not allow bikers without the 200 or 220 cc bikes to be a part of the rides. The outings happen often, and we go to places likes Diveagar, Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani and so on.8221; As another member Varun Narula says, 8220;We were once spotted by the Bajaj team while we were on a trip and they were shooting for their 135 cc Discovery advertisement near Lonavala. It was an exciting moment to be appreciated by them as we exhibited some of our stunts on their bikes.8221;
Ranging from age group 18 to 28 most of them are students who have been into bikes and speed since their school days. Adding on the road chase the group adds, 8220;The most basic thing that motivates us is the sense of freedom. This has been out of choice and also the total control over the machine makes it ecstatic enough. It is addictive with a sense of thrill and satisfaction. It is also the shrieks and waves that we draw from the little kids and people as we pass through the villages. We love the attention. The bikes are special because they are a pioneer in a lot of technologies as well as with an overwhelming velocity.8221;
Having been featured in the Bike magazine earlier the Rubber Ripperzs now plan to make it to Chennai on wheels, riding at the Chennai Race Track. And as they accelerate the bikers claim to have crossed the maximum speed the bike maintains. Adds Arzin Dalal, 8220;Each one of us have crossed the 135 kmph speed limit. I have driven at a speed of 145 kmph. And then there are stunts that we are gaining proficiency in, including the christ, wheelie, stoppie, 360, burnout, donut and skitching. That makes it invariable to wear a helmet including other precautions. We also strictly follow the traffic rules and thankfully till date only the bikes have been injured.8221;
