Europe has long been a dream destination for travel enthusiasts worldwide. From solo backpackers exploring cobblestone streets to films that romanticise countries like France, Italy, and Switzerland, the continent offers experiences with iconic landmarks, charming villages, world-class art, and breathtaking landscapes. However, a recent video showing the ‘other side of Europe’, which is beyond imagination, has sparked a conversation on social media.
Prateek Singh, an Indian travel vlogger, saw Europe in a different light, unlike what reels show on social media. The viral video shows heavily littered streets. Singh highlights that obtaining a Schengen visa requires six months of bank statements, three months of ITR documents, and other documents, as well as expensive flight tickets; however, Europe has nothing to offer but heavily littered roads, crime, and mismanagement.
“After spending over Rs 10 lakh, you are coming to Europe to see this! You can see all this in India itself,” Singh says, adding, “The reality is: Eastern world like Japan, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore are leading the world right now in terms of tourism, infrastructure, and development. Europe and Western world are losing their status. And this is the reality.”
Singh further notes the mismanagement after the Dutch football team Ajax was forced to suspend its game against Groningen, leading to uncontrollable fireworks that triggered mayhem. He also emphasised safety concerns like theft and robbery, and illegal migrants flooding the streets in Europe.
The video has since gone viral across social media platforms. Sharing it on X, a user wrote, “Filth on the streets, illegal immigrants, attacks on women and police on New Year, rampant crime after dark. One spends 10,000-12,000 dollars to go and see all that?”

The video also prompted a wave of reactions, with a user commenting, “I live in the Netherlands and I completely agree that the touristy parts of central Amsterdam are filthy. But I have never seen safety issues.
And the non-touristy parts are extremely clean and beautiful.” Another user wrote, “Illegal immigrants are going to create nuisance whatever country it is. Sooner its corrected better it is.”
“How ironical Europe was never like this until the entire Indian population started to move in Europe and they brought all their rubbish and culture there go back in the history and look what your past 10 years ago. Thank you to your Indian people,” a third user reacted.
