CHANDIGARH, JAN 31: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Bhupinder Singh Hooda, MP, has welcomed the announcement of seven welfare schemes for the upliftment of minorities by the party president Sonia Gandhi.

In a press release here today, Hooda said that the Congress had always worked for the betterment of the poor, the downtrodden and the minorities. The seven point programme was announced by Sonia Gandhi at Delhi at a function organised to commemorate the 51st Martyrdom Day of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

He said that the Congress party in Haryana will give priority to the implementation of this seven point programme, including setting up of Minority Commission, promotion of education, development of the language of minorities, removal of economic backwardness, appointments in government services including police, management of wakf properties whenever the Congress came to power in the state.
